Correct the stock

Stock changes by itself when orders are placed, cancelled or returned. To correct it by hand:

  1. 1

    Open the variant

On Catalog › Inventory, choose the variant.

  2. 2

    Enter the change

Under Adjust stock, enter how many to add or take away in Quantity (+/−), such as 5 or -3. Pick a Reason, such as damaged or found, and add a note if it helps.

  3. 3

    Apply it

Choose Apply adjustment. Movement history, below, shows every change to that variant's stock, with who made it and why.

You can't take stock below what's available. A product's own page shows its stock, but you change it here.

Low-stock alerts

An alert opens when a variant's available stock falls to its threshold or below. The threshold is 5, unless you change it for a variant: open it on Catalog › Inventory and set Low-stock threshold. Leave it blank to use the shop's default.

Open alerts show:

  • In Alerts, at the top of every admin page.
  • As a banner on Catalog › Inventory. Choose it to see just those variants.
  • In the Low stock alerts view on Catalog › Products.

An alert closes by itself once the stock is back above the threshold.

Selling when you're out of stock

Without it, a variant can't be bought once it's out of stock.
